Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over it.
Table of Contents

1. Overview

This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit omnalingo.com, create an account, purchase a subscription, or use the Omnalingo service, and how we handle it. “Personal data” is any information that could identify you.

2. Controller

The party responsible for data processing on this website is Kriesi Media GmbH, Burggasse 121, 1070 Vienna, Austria. Contact: legal@omnalingo.com.

3. Your rights

You have the right to information about your stored data (its origin, recipients, and purpose), and to have it corrected, restricted, deleted, or provided in a portable format, at any time and free of charge. You may withdraw any consent you have given with future effect (an informal email suffices). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority: the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna — dsb.gv.at.

4. TLS encryption

This site uses TLS encryption for security. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the “https://” prefix and the lock icon in your browser’s address bar.

5. Cookies & consent

Some pages use cookies. Strictly necessary cookies (e.g. to enable secure browsing, maintain a session, or remember your consent choices) are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in an error-free service (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR). Non-essential cookies — including the analytics, advertising, and embedded-content tools described below — are only set with your consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR), which you give via our cookie banner and can withdraw at any time in our cookie settings. You can also configure your browser to refuse or delete cookies; disabling cookies may limit the site’s functionality.

6. Server log files & hosting

Our website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich (Germany). The hosting provider automatically collects data your browser transmits — browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, hostname, time of request, and IP address — in server log files. These data are processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website) and are not combined with other sources.

7. Contact & support

If you contact us (by form or email), we process the data you provide to answer your enquiry and any follow-ups, on the basis of your consent and/or to take steps at your request (Art. 6 (1)(a)/(b) GDPR). We keep this data until your request is resolved and no statutory retention periods require us to keep it longer.

8. Account & licence data

To download the plugin, manage a licence, or run the service, you create an account. We process the data you provide (such as name and email) and licence/service data (such as your licence key and the domain(s) it is used on) to provide the service and administer your subscription (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR). We may use your email to inform you of important service or security changes. We store this data for as long as your account exists; statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

9. Payments

Paid subscriptions are processed by our payment provider, Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.). When you pay, the payment data you enter (e.g. card details) is transmitted to and processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card details. This processing is necessary to perform the contract (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR). Stripe may transfer data to the United States on the basis of appropriate safeguards (EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework). See Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

10. The Omnalingo translation service

When you use Omnalingo to translate your website, the content to be translated is transmitted from your site to our translation cloud and processed by Google Cloud Vertex AI solely to generate the translations. This processing takes place on EU-based endpoints — your content is not transferred to the United States for translation. Your content is not used to train AI models and is not shared beyond what is necessary to provide the service. The resulting translations are stored in your own WordPress database and remain under your control.

Where your website content contains personal data of your own end users, you act as the controller and we act as your processor. If you require a data processing agreement, contact us at legal@omnalingo.com.

11. Comments & Gravatar

When you leave a comment on our site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, together with your IP address and browser user-agent string to help detect spam. This is done on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR). An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service, operated by Automattic Inc. (USA), to check whether you use it; after approval, your profile picture is publicly visible with your comment. See Automattic’s privacy policy at automattic.com/privacy. Comments and their associated data are retained until the commented-upon content is deleted or we are legally required to remove them.

12. Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address (and any name you provide) to send it, on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in each email, after which the data is deleted unless we hold it for another purpose. We send the newsletter using a third-party email service provider.

13. Analytics & advertising

Google Analytics. With your consent, we use Google Analytics, a web-analytics service by Google Ireland Limited (Dublin, Ireland), to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics uses cookies; IP anonymisation is enabled, so your IP address is shortened within the EU/EEA before any transmission. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States under appropriate safeguards (EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework). Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time in our cookie settings. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.

Meta (Facebook) Pixel & advertising. With your consent, we use the Meta Pixel provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (Dublin, Ireland) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to show relevant ads on Meta platforms. The pixel may set cookies and transmit data (such as your interaction with our site and your IP address) to Meta, including to Meta Platforms, Inc. in the United States, under appropriate safeguards (EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework). For the collection of this data via the pixel, we and Meta act as joint controllers. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR), withdrawable at any time in our cookie settings. More information: facebook.com/privacy/policy.

14. Embedded YouTube videos

Our pages may embed videos from YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited (Dublin, Ireland). With your consent, when you play an embedded video a connection to YouTube/Google servers is established, informing them which page you visited and transmitting your IP address; data may be processed in the United States under appropriate safeguards. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR), withdrawable at any time in our cookie settings. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.

15. Automated decision-making

We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making, including profiling, that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.

16. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above. Data required for accounting and tax purposes (e.g. invoices) is retained for the statutory period of seven years under Austrian law (§ 132 BAO). Where processing is based on consent, we delete the data once you withdraw consent, unless another legal basis applies.

17. International transfers

Most processing takes place within the EU/EEA. Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA (for example, by the providers named above), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, or an adequacy decision.

18. Data Protection Officer

We are not legally required to appoint a Data Protection Officer and have not done so. For any data-protection matter, please contact us at legal@omnalingo.com.
